The purpose of basic education is to lay the foundation for intelligence, knowledge, personality, noble character, and skills to live independently and follow further education.
The basic education curriculum applies integrated thematic learning for all levels of grades 1-6 with the aim of encouraging children to be actively involved in learning and creating problem-solving situations according to children’s needs and development. Learning uses a scientific approach that teaches children to be directly involved in activities of observing, asking questions, gathering information, trying, reasoning, drawing conclusions, communicating with the aim of increasing children’s creativity.
The 3 main focuses of the 2013 curriculum at the basic education level are to strengthen character education, strengthen literacy culture in children and 21st century learning which includes 4 things, namely critical thinking skills, creativity, communication and collaboration.
Kanaan Christian Primary School provides learning that can shape children’s thinking and ways of life according to Christian values. Children are also taught to be independent in the learning process. This is meant to get away from dependence on parents.
